We dream of a Europe where it's easier to book and board a sustainable night journey than a flight. We achieve that with a platform that makes all European night train and bus services uniformly and transparently comparable.

We enable people to travel consciously, protecting the climate and connecting Europe.

Our team

Our story

Timo met Valérie in early 2022. They fell in love. But there was a problem: Valérie lived about 900 kilometers away – in Amsterdam. Timo wanted to travel environmentally friendly and was therefore looking for a suitable night train.

However, his search turned out to be complicated and time-consuming: He needed to visit every website of the various providers and collect all the available connections and prices himself.

Frustrated by this, Timo built a first prototype in his spare time, which enables searching for night trains in Switzerland and Germany. night-ride.ch went live in June 2023. He doesn't seem to be the only one facing the same problems: visitor numbers exploded after just a short time!

Encouraged by the success, Timo got his two colleagues, Fabian and Niklas, on board at the beginning of 2024. Together, they launched the new comparison platform nightride.com in the summer of 2024.

Behind this stands the Night Ride AG. It was founded by Timo Grossenbacher, Fabian Schneider and Niklas Jäggi in the beautiful Swiss baroque town of Solothurn. Together with employees and shareholders, they share the passion for sustainable night travel.

How we make money

We don't sell tickets ourselves. Because then we'd have to charge a fee, just like many travel agencies and online booking platforms do. You don't get any real benefit from that. That's why we'd rather redirect you to the actual providers where you can safely buy your ticket at the guaranteed lowest price.

In the process, we (sometimes) receive a tiny commission – even if you book a hotel or activity through us. That's enough to cover our infrastructure (hosting, licenses). But we still can't afford salaries with that. We've already put thousands of hours of volunteer work into the project. We don't get external funding and are financially completely independent.
