All berths have their advantages and disadvantages. We'll help you decide.

Lower berth:

Advantages:

  • You don't have to climb into your bed
  • Space for luggage under the bed
  • There is less movement on bends as it's closer to the floor.

Disadvantages:

  • Through traffic of passengers from the middle and upper beds
  • There is less privacy as the bed is visible to fellow travelers

Middle berth

Compromise between lower and upper bed. Storage space for luggage is often the most limited. Good view from the window.

Upper berth

Advantages:

  • Privacy: only the person in the other upper bed can see your bed
  • Often has storage space for luggage above the door
  • You can retire even if the other passengers are still sitting downstairs

Disadvantages:

  • The climb to get into your bed
  • The higher, the warmer it is - this is particularly relevant on older trains and in summer
