There currently is one option to travel by night train from Bolzano (Italy) to Rome (Italy), taking between approximately 8 and 9 hours: Namely the INTERCITY NOTTE 763 operated by Trenitalia.
Trenitalia operates an extensive night train network called Intercity Notte throughout Italy, offering sleeping cars ('Relax'), couchette cars ('Comfort'), and seating cars ('Easy').
In the sleeping cars ('Relax'), all compartments have three beds and can be booked for one, two, or three people. Sharing with strangers is no longer possible. Compartments are equipped with a washbasin, mirror, and reading lights. For families, adjoining compartments can be connected by a door. Premium 'Superior' compartments with en-suite shower and WC are available on the Rome–Trieste, Rome–Bolzano, and Rome–Lecce routes.
In the couchette cars ('Comfort'), all compartments accommodate four people, with women-only and family options available. Each couchette has a reading light, and compartments can be locked from the inside. Bedding including sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets is distributed before departure.
The seating cars ('Easy') mostly have open-plan carriages with seats arranged in groups of four. The lights may stay on all night. Some routes also have carriages with 6-seat compartments where you can adjust lighting, speakers, and heating yourself. All seating cars have power sockets and a small table.
