There currently is one option to travel by night train from London (United Kingdom) to Fort William (United Kingdom), taking between approximately 13 and 14 hours: Namely the Highlander NB (FW) operated by Caledonian Sleeper.
With the Caledonian Sleeper, travelers can comfortably journey overnight from London to Scotland. It offers sleeper cars for higher comfort as well as more economical seating options. The operator serves two main routes: the Lowlander trains to Glasgow and Edinburgh, while the Highlander trains serve more northern destinations such as Aberdeen, Inverness, and Fort William.
There are three different sleeper car options: the Classic Room with bunk beds and washbasin (toilets at the end of the car), the Club Room with identical layout but with an additional private bathroom with toilet and shower, and the luxurious Caledonian Double with a proper double bed and private bathroom. Seating cars are also available for smaller budgets.
The train features a restaurant car called the Club Car, which is open in the evening and morning. The breakfast menu includes a traditional Scottish breakfast. Guests in Club Room and Caledonian Double have priority access and also receive breakfast included in their fare.
The Classic Rooms have connecting doors, allowing adjacent compartments to be connected for families or small groups. Also worth mentioning is the Family Ticket with discounted rates for two or three adjoining compartments. Accessible compartments are also available for passengers with reduced mobility.
For smaller budgets, the train also includes seating cars, which provide an economical alternative to the sleeper cars. Tickets are available from less than 100 euros. The seating cars also offer space for bicycles.
The sanitary facilities vary depending on the compartment type. Classic Rooms have a washbasin in the compartment, while toilets can be found at the end of the car. Club Rooms and Caledonian Doubles offer the additional comfort of a private bathroom with toilet and shower. For guests with reduced mobility, each section of the train includes accessible compartments with appropriately equipped sanitary facilities.
