Sleeping on a night bus – how does it work?

Twiliner is the first bus company in Europe where you can travel and sleep lying down. In Asia and Latin America, lying flat on night buses has long been part of everyday travel and has proven itself. (Editor’s note: In New Zealand, between Auckland and Wellington, there used to be a similar bus – at least 15 years ago, it was cheap and a great experience.)

Different concepts are used worldwide, from cabins and reclining seats to even hammock-style setups. Twiliner has chosen to develop its own sleeping seat inspired by an airline business class seat. At the push of a button, your seat transforms into a fully flat bed.

Safety

As mentioned, lying down on buses is already widespread and well-proven in other parts of the world. Twiliner has developed its own safety system to ensure your protection.

When seated, you fasten a seat belt just like in a regular coach or car. When lying down, you sleep in a sleeping bag that is securely fixed to the sleeping seat.

Our drivers are highly experienced and specially trained for overnight journeys. On every trip, two drivers are on board, taking turns to guarantee safety and rest.

Comfort & Amenities

All sleeping seats come with bed linen, a pillow, and a blanket. You can eat or work at a small table. Each seat provides personal storage space, a reading light, and a USB-C port to charge your devices. Free WiFi is available throughout the journey.
