There currently are a variety of options to travel by night train from Jenbach (Austria) to Hamburg (Germany), taking between approximately 10 and 14 hours: Namely the 304 and the NJ 40420. These lines are operated by Snälltåget and ÖBB.
Snälltåget offers night travel with various comfort levels on night trains between European cities.
Snälltåget provides three options: budget seats in open coaches, berths in shared compartments for up to six people, and private compartments for groups. All berths include pillows, sheets, blankets and duvets.
In shared and private compartments, seats convert to berths at night. Each compartment features three berths on each side with ladders to reach the upper berths. Private compartments are ideal for groups seeking more privacy.
Pets are only allowed in private compartments and must be registered during booking. Bicycles cannot be brought on the train, but folding bikes can be stored as hand luggage in the compartment or on luggage racks in the seating coach.
The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) operate the Nightjet and Euronight trains (the latter together with other national railway agencies).
ÖBB night trains typically feature three types of carriages: seats, couchettes, and sleepers.
Seats are for the bravest, while couchettes and sleepers provide a more comfortable journey. In the couchettes, you can find simple and rather narrow berths, while the sleepers are equipped with proper beds and sometimes even a private bathroom. Couchettes can hold up to six people, whereas sleepers are private compartments for one to three people.
They may include a private bathroom or shower, or sometimes just a sink.
